A Study Of Innocent Exposure To Common Household Products Influence PEth Positivity

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine if significant exposure to alcohol containing household products, specifically hand-sanitizers and mouthwash, will result in phosphatidlyethanol (PEth), specifically POPEth: 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanol, values ≥20 ng/mL.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Volunteers ≥ 18 years of age, PEth test results at screening visit < 10 ng/mL, willingness to abstain from alcohol consumption along with a provided list of other consumables that could impact results, men, women, and non-binary individuals

 

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Volunteers < 18 years of age, PEth test results at screening visit >10 ng/mL, pregnant or those breast feeding, those with urinary tract infections, who have documented histories of alcohol abuse disorder, diabetes, or hepatic and liver dysfunction. Anyone with adverse reactions to or restrictions on the use of the products used in this study.  Individuals who show an exposure to alcohol in their first blood draw will be excluded from further participation in this study.
