A Study Of Evaluating Real-World Sound Localization Across Hearing Status, Rehabilitation, And Environmental Conditions

About this study

The purpose of this study is to enhance our understanding of sound localization for both individuals with normal hearing and those with hearing loss.

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adults aged 18 years and older

  • Any hearing status and with or without any form of hearing rehabilitation

  • Participants who use a hearing device should be established, regular users of that device (at least 1 month or longer based on device type) when device-dependent performance is being assessed.

 

 Exclusion Criteria:

  • Children

  • Adults unable to provide informed consent

  • Any condition that would make blindfolded, seated testing unsafe, including significant balance or mobility impairment or inability to be seated safely in the testing chair
