About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of Astrin Biosciences EV-based proteomic assay in detecting breast cancer in a cohort of women with dense breasts referred for diagnostic biopsy or surgical intervention

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Women with dense breasts (BI-RADS C or D) referred for a diagnostic breast biopsy or surgical intervention.

  • No prior definitive systemic or local anti-cancer intervention (including surgery and radiation).

  • 18 years of age or older.

  • No known HIV positivity or active Hepatitis B based on medical history.

  • Able to provide written consent prior to any research related activities

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Prior history of in situ or invasive malignancy, excluding non-melanoma skin cancers (such as basal or squamous cell).

  • Known pregnancy by self-report.

  • Prior solid organ, bone marrow, or stem cell transplant

  • Presence of active systemic infection as indicated by a fever ≥101.2°F and/or with a positive/suspected positive blood culture within the last week.

  • Major injuries within the last two weeks.
