About this study

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of Intelligent Physical Exercise Training and Intraoperative Ergonomic Recommendations on Musculoskeletal Pain among Abdominopelvic Surgeons

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Are residents, fellows, and attending surgeons at MCR or MCF who perform abdominopelvic surgeries (colorectal, gynecologic, urologic, bariatric, and general abdominopelvic surgery such as hernias, appendectomies, gall bladders, etc.), and who utilize open, laparoscopic, and/or robotic modalities.

  • Perform a minimum average of 4 hours of surgery per week for the past 6 months prior to enrollment.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Only perform endoscopic surgeries or cesarean sections.

  • Have been advised against performing physical exercise training by their PCP/general practitioner.

  • They did not complete the Pre-Trial Evaluation Survey.

  • They do not have time to perform the exercise in the Intelligent Motion app.

  • They do not have a device compatible with the Intelligent Motion app or are otherwise unable to use the Intelligent Motion app.
