A Study Of RBC Antibody Thermal Amplitude Testing For Cardiovascular Surgery

About this study

The purpose of this study is to establish the positive screening rate for 4°C reacting RBC autoantibodies (4°C RBC autoantibody screen) amongst cardiovascular surgery patients undergoing blood type and antibody screen testing as part of their routine clinical laboratory testing.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adult patients (18 years and older) undergoing cardiovascular surgery; having a blood type and antibody screen performed as part of their clinical laboratory testing prior to surgery; and patients who are able to provide informed consent

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Pediatric patients (17 years and younger); surgery scheduled but ultimately not performed (canceled); and patients who are unable/lack the capacity to provide informed consent
