About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the quality of life after PE surgery using the validated EORTC QLQ-C30 and the Body Image Scale (BIS), together with the “Was It Worth It?” (WIWI) questionnaire. To determine risk factors for decreased Quality – of – Life (QoL) after Pelvic Exenteration.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • All living patients aged > 18 years old.

  • Patient consent to HIPAA.

  • Provide agreement to participate in the survey.

  • Treatment performed at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Minnesota, between the years 2000 and 2025.

  • Performance of anterior, posterior or complete PE and/or IORT treatment, regardless of the time elapsed between completion of therapy and initiation of the survey.

  • Diagnosis of advanced or recurrent cervical, vaginal, vulvar, endometrial and ovarian cancer or colorectal cancer.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Deceased patients.

  • Patients who do not agree to participate in the survey, including those who are unable to provide consent due to clinical conditions.
