A Study of Aortic Function as a Predictor of Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm (TAA)

About this study

The purpose of this study is to develop and validate a prediction model for TAA growth that incorporates clinical, demographic and key aortic hemodynamic measures.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age ≥18 years
  • Dilation of the aortic root or ascending aorta ≥40mm

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Previous surgical repair of the aorta
  • Suffered an acute aortic syndrome
  • Known systemic inflammatory condition
  • Contraindication to both CT and MRI
  • Permanent atrial fibrillation or flutter
  • Previous bilateral carotid endarterectomy or stenting
  • Previous bilateral lower extremity bypass or stenting at or above the common femoral arteries
