[18F] Fluoroethyl-L-tyrosine PET/MRI for identifying small functional pituitary adenomas

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the diagnostic role and clinical efficacy of [18F]FET-PET/MRI in detecting MRI-occult primary or residual/recurrent functional pituitary adenomas (PAs) and its influence on clinical and surgical decisions.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients 18 to 75 years of age with biochemically proven CD, Acromegaly, or tumor hyperprolactinemia as per current Endocrinology guidelines.
  • DCE-MRI protocol that is negative or equivocal for identifiable tumor
  • To revisit treatment options due to inadequate control or intolerance of medical therapy. In this group, surgical options are reconsidered because of insufficient biochemical and clinical control under maximal tolerated medical therapy, but no apparent remnant adenoma, or multiple possible foci, on MRI after shrinkage and/or previous surgery.
  • Able to provide informed consent and be capable of completing the imaging protocols.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Patients with contraindications to MRI or PET scans.
  • Patients with known allergies to contrast agents or other imaging-related materials.
  • Patients with severe medical conditions that preclude participation in the study.
  • Patients with successful MRI localization of the adenoma or recurrent disease.

Note: Other protocol defined Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria may apply.

Eligibility last updated 2/04/2025. Questions regarding updates should be directed to the study team contact.
