Smoking Cessation Post-Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass

About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine successful strategies for smoking cessation after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery. 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients 18 years old to 65
  • Primary Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery
  • Patients who smoked tobacco before surgery, and individuals who are still being followed at the institution where the surgery was initially performed.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Under 18 years of age
  • Non-English speaking patients
  • Patients who have had other bariatric surgeries such as gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy, biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch, modified duodenal switch, patients who had a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass at an outside facility, patients who underwent revisions of their Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, and patients who have moved away and are no longer receiving their follow-up care at the institution the surgery was performed.
