Adolescent and Young Adult Virtual Art Therapy Assisted Re-Integration During Cancer Survivorship

About this study

The purpose of this study will investigate digitally administered creative art therapy’s feasibility and impact on biopsychosocial outcomes in Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color adolescent and young adult cancer survivors.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Aged 18-25 years of age at the time of enrollment and able to provide informed consent.
  • Moderate or severe depression (PHQ-A score > 6)
  • Self-identified as a person of color.
  • Completed cancer treatment for a solid tumor malignancy within the past five years.
  • Have access to an electronic device which supports Zoom videoconferencing (e.g., personal device or public library access)
  • Appropriate motor skill to draw using an electronic device.
  • Able to read and write in English

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Participation in art therapy within the past 12 months.
  • Visual or cognitive impairment which may impede completing the art project or the data collection measures.
  • Endorsed suicidality (via PHQ-A or otherwise)
