Spatial Profiling of the Zone II (Intrasynovial) Flexor Tendon Fibrotic Niche

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to compare avian tendon healing spatial biology findings to human intrasynovial tendon tissue spatial gene expression. By correlating findings from our avian tendon repair model to human spatial gene expression findings, a comprehensive spatial molecular atlas or map of the zone II/intrasynovial tendon fibrotic niche could be synthesized. Additionally, by validating the biochemical findings in our avian model, we could further establish this preclinical model as a clinically relevant platform for investigating novel therapeutics to enhance intrinsic healing and mitigate peritendinous adhesions formation following zone II tendon injury.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Intrasynovial tendons from any region. Ideally zone II intrasynovial tendons will be selected.
  • Patients undergoing tendon reconstruction or tenolysis procedures.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Primary/secondary/confounding pathologies including cancerous lesions of the synovial sheath e.g. synovial sarcoma or benign lesions such as giant cell tumors of synovial sheath.

Note: Other protocol defined Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria may apply.

Eligibility last updated 6/11/2024. Questions regarding updates should be directed to the study team contact.
