Normative Metrics of Cerebral Autoregulation in Young and Older Adults

About this study

The purpose of this study is to investigate age-related differences in cerebral autoregulation metrics between young and older adults using transfer function analysis of transcranial doppler ultrasound.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Ages 18 – 80 years, English speaking.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Participants with a history of ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, traumatic brain injury, myocardial infarction, previous major cardiovascular surgeries (stent, CABG, bypass, transplant), previous major neurologic surgeries (lesion resection, deep brain stimulation, bypass, placement of a shunt/drain), or permanent neurologic dysfunction such as spinal cord injury or cerebral palsy.
