Idiopathic Erythrocytosis Impact on Patient Well-Being

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the symptom burden in patients with idiopathic erythrocytosis and understand its impact on their daily life and overall well-being.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients diagnosed with idiopathic erythrocytosis, defined as Hemoglobin > 16.5 g/dL men, > 16 g/dL women or hematocrit > 49% men, > 48% women, absence of JAK2 V617F, non JAK 2 V617F, CALR, MPL, BCR-ABL and not meeting the criteria for Polycythemia Vera, Essential Thrombocytosis, or Myelofibrosis.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Patients identified with secondary causes for erythrocytosis, including those who are using testosterone therapy or are active smokers with smoking identified as the most likely cause of their erythrocytosis, will be excluded from this study. This also encompasses conditions such as cardiac, pulmonary, or renal diseases, as well as situations involving hypoxia.
