Lung Nodule Management And Lung Cancer Screening In Patients With Abnormal Ct-Scan

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess the current rate of adherence to incidental lung nodule management and lung cancer screening guidelines in at-risk lung cancer patients identified from chart review.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adults (≥ 18 years old) with incidental lung nodules detected during CT imaging (chest, abdomen, coronary calcium score) OR patients that meet the USPSTF lung cancer screening criteria: adults aged 50 to 80 years who have a 20 pack-year smoking history and currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years.

  • Index imaging done between 01/01/2023 and 01/01/2024

  • Provide consent for follow-up.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Patients who do not fulfill the inclusion criteria.  

  • Patients who do not or cannot provide consent, including but not limited to inability to complete study procedures or questionnaires due to cognitive or language barriers. 

  • Patients without identifiable follow-up recommendations based on imaging findings. 

  • Patients who had a diagnosis of lung cancer within 5 years before the identification of the nodule.
