A Study of Novel Biomarkers in Suspected Cardiogenic Shock

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess biomarkers of Cardiogenic Shock (CS) which may be associated with the development of and outcomes after CS to provide incremental prognostic information beyond the standard metrics for hospitalized patients with suspected cardiogenic shock.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

  • Enrolled in Epic Cardiogenic Shock Care Path (triggered automatically by admission order to any Cardiology inpatient hospital service)
  • Suspected or confirmed cardiogenic shock, defined as triggering Epic Cardiogenic Shock Care Path alert criteria for SCAI Shock Stage C, D, or E for the first time

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Comfort cares
  • Goals of care do not include ICU admission
