Care Partners and Patients Navigating Year 1 of Dyadic Self-Management post-LVAD

About this study

The purpose of this study is to conduct a 6-month longitudinal study of 30 patient/care partner dyads who had an LVAD implanted within the last 6 months. We will comprehensively characterize LVAD self-care trajectories. Our team comprises investigators with experience in heart failure, LVAD patients and care partners, self-management, longitudinal data analysis, and HRQoL.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adults aged ≥18 years who are primary care partners of an adult patient aged ≥19 years with an LVAD implanted 6 or fewer months before enrollment.

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Participants who do not speak, read and write in English or living outside the United States.
