Unipedal Stance Time With Frailty Scores in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Patients

About this study

The objective of this study is to compare the unipedal stance time with serum albumin, 5-meter walk test and KATZ questionnaire findings as frailty scores in transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) patients.

 

 

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age 18 or older.
  • All TAVR patients referred to Dr. Arghami’s Clinic at St Mary’s Campus.
  • Patients who are able to provide informed consent.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Patients who cannot perform balance tests due to:
    • Severe physical disability (e.g., paralysis, advanced neuromuscular disorders).
    • Cognitive impairment that prevents understanding or following instructions.
    • Medical instability (e.g., hemodynamic instability, acute illness).
    • Any condition deemed unsafe by the clinical team.
  • Patients who lack the capacity to provide informed consent (e.g., advanced dementia, altered mental status).
