This proposal will determine the prevalence of MGUS among people of East African descent to improve the role of ancestral genetic diversity in myeloma research, allow an opportunity for early intervention, and reduce the disparity in diagnosing and monitoring precursor conditions for an incurable cancer which disproportionately affects those of African descent.
