Study of Blood Pressure Evaluation with Continuous Flow Left Ventricular Assist Devices

About this study

The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the ability for tonometry to accurately reproduce blood pressure readings in patients with left ventricular assist devices (LVAD).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adult > 18 years old.
  • Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) within 5 years of study date.
  • LVAD placed during study timeframe.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Advanced heart failure without LVAD.
  • Inotrope dependence without LVAD.
  • LVAD placed > 5 years prior to study initiation.
  • Hemodynamic instability requiring hospitalization.
