A Study to Assess Educational Needs and Perceived Barriers to Care Among Individuals with Chronic Health Conditions and Their Caregivers


About this study

The purpose of this study is to assess educational needs and barriers to care in both patients with cancer and other serious chronic conditions, as well as their caregivers.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Able to read and write in English.
  • Be a patient who has been living with one of the following health conditions for at least 6 months:
    • High blood pressure;
    • Heart disease / clogged arteries;
    • HIV / AIDS;
    • Congestive heart failure;
    • Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease;
    • Peripheral neuropathy / nerve damage;
    • COPD or other lung problem;
    • Rheumatoid arthritis;
    • Osteoarthritis;
    • Diabetes;
    • Cancer;
    • Stroke.

Exclusion Criteria: 

  • Cognitive impairment  interfering with completion of the survey.
