Focal and Multifocal Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathies

Overview

About this study

The purpose of this study is to characterize the focal forms of CIDP (which we will term chronic inflammatory demyelinating mononeuropathy, or CIDM).

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Patients with focal weakness and sensory changes affecting either a single peripheral nerve or nerve root, or multiple individual nerves of nerve roots
  • A peripheral sensory nerve biopsy (e.g. sural nerve) or targeted fascicular biopsy that demonstrates inflammatory demyelination diagnostic or suggestive of CIDP
  • Patients diagnosed after 18 year of age

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Patients with an alternate diagnosis for their presentation (e.g. neurofibromatosis, vasculitic neuropathy)
