A Study to Evaluate Immune Regulation at the Point Where Maternal Genes and Fetus Genes Meet in the Human Placenta

About this study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the immune regulation at the point where maternal genes meet fetal genes in the tissues of the placenta. Specimens from the placentas of healthy pregnancies will be collected, and genetic arrays from both areas, maternal and fetal, will be prepared and compared.

Participation eligibility

Participant eligibility includes age, gender, type and stage of disease, and previous treatments or health concerns. Guidelines differ from study to study, and identify who can or cannot participate. There is no guarantee that every individual who qualifies and wants to participate in a trial will be enrolled. Contact the study team to discuss study eligibility and potential participation.

Inclusion Criteria

  • Female
  • Between 18-35 years of age
  • Healthy
  • Normal, uncomplicated pregnancy
  • Elective caesarian delivery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN

Exclusion Criteria

  • Multifetal gestation  
  • History of autoimmune diseases, cancer
  • History of organ transplant
