The Surgery Research Center is focused on technological and strategic solutions that identify and disseminate best surgical practices across Mayo Clinic. A major aim of the center is to develop tools that demonstrate effective mastery of such practices at every patient care interface.
Since its inception in 1889, Mayo Clinic has been dedicated to identifying, incorporating and perfecting best surgical practices from around the globe. While these efforts were originally focused on Mayo's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, the expansion of campuses in Arizona and Florida in the 1980s brought new challenges to practice optimization at a distance.
With the subsequent emergence and expansion of the Mayo Clinic Health System, the goal of the Surgery Research Center is to provide the best surgical solutions to all patients seeking care across the organization.
