Translation and Pharmacology Program

The Translation and Pharmacology Program, which was launched in late 2016, supports research endeavors led by faculty from the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology and other faculty at Mayo Clinic.

Clinicians and researchers in the Translation and Pharmacology Program work together in a coordinated, bench-to-bedside approach that aims to improve the aging process for older adults.

Focus areas

The Translation and Pharmacology Program focuses on several specific research areas:

  • Supporting research efforts of faculty in geriatric medicine and gerontology
  • Training and recruiting geriatricians for clinical and translational research opportunities in the Kogod Center on Aging
  • Developing facilities for data analyses of human and accelerated aging model samples
  • Performing targeted screening of therapeutics to identify drugs with potential for improving harmful aspects of systemic aging and age-related conditions
