Regenerative Medicine Consult Service
The Regenerative Medicine Consult Service at Mayo Clinic provides patients and medical professionals with educational guidance and appropriate referrals to clinical practice areas, research studies and clinical trials in stem cell therapies and other regenerative products.
Indications for a regenerative medicine consult include but are not limited to:
- Disorders of the heart, liver, pancreas or lungs
- Systemic diseases
Any patient or clinician who has questions about the value of regenerative therapies is welcome to call the consult service. The consult service will inform them about existing regenerative services at Mayo Clinic. When appropriate, patients are referred to research studies at Mayo Clinic and elsewhere that are actively recruiting participants. In other instances, a subspecialty referral may be made.
Mark W. Pagnano, M.D., chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and deputy director of application for the Center for Regenerative Medicine, and Dennis Wigle, M.D., Ph.D., chair of the Division of General Thoracic Surgery, oversee the service.
