Individualized Medicine Education for Health Care Teams
Advances in precision medicine have resulted in the introduction of genomics into practices ranging from primary care to oncology to critical care. All members of the health care team — including nurses, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physicians, physician assistants and others — play significant roles in both patient care and patient education.
The Mayo Clinic Center for Individualized Medicine's multispecialty education program delivers genomic education to health care teams in novel and traditional ways, including online, asynchronous learning tools. The center hosts multiple in-person and online courses and activities to help clinicians learn about genomic medicine and apply it in their practices.
Additionally, Mayo Clinic School of Continuous Professional Development weaves individualized medicine concepts into many courses. These courses are designed to assist clinicians with the ongoing challenge of rapidly understanding and integrating the newest genomics- and omics-based precision medicine knowledge and advanced treatments into their practices.
