Leadership

The center is directed by a council of leaders consisting of a director, a partner from administration, and physician and career scientist associates who are jointly responsible for developing and executing the center's vision in alignment with Mayo Clinic's practice, research and education priorities.

    Dr. Pease co-directs the Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Program and directs the newly established Immune Monitoring Core. He served as chair of the Department of Immunology for 11 years and directed the Immunology track of Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences' Ph.D. Program for 20 years. He is a Distinguished Mayo Clinic Investigator and the Gordon H. and Violet Bartels Professor of Cellular Biology.

    Dr. Billadeau is the chair of the Department of Immunology and the deputy director, basic sciences, for Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. He holds the Edmond A. and Marion F. Guggenheim professorship.

    Dr. Jelinek is dean for discovery science for Mayo Clinic and dean of research at Mayo Clinic's campus in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona. She previously served as chair of the Department of Immunology for four years and dean of Mayo Graduate School (now Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences) for nine years. She is the Gene and Mary Lou Kurtz Professor of Multiple Myeloma Research.

    Dr. Knutson is a co-director of the Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Program and leads cancer research in the Discovery and Translation Labs at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida.

    Dr. Vile co-directs the Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Program with Dr. Pease. He is the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Professor and a visiting professor of biological therapies at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.

    Dr. Witzig is the deputy director, translational research, for Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. He served for 12 years as chair for research for the Division of Hematology and is currently a co-chair of the National Clinical Trials Network.
