Facilities

The Center for Advanced Imaging Research contains extensive equipment and support space, including:

  • Two whole-body, wide-bore 3-tesla MRI scanners (GE Premier and Philips Elition).
  • Patient changing area.
  • Animal scan preparation rooms.
  • Eighty-person classroom.

Laboratory and support space includes:

  • Offices for the center's faculty, support staff, students and fellows.
  • Electronics lab, machine shop, wet lab, flex labs and a dedicated server room.
  • Conference rooms.

Magnetic Resonance Lab

Magnetic Resonance Lab facilities are available on an hourly charge-out basis to all Mayo investigators who wish to use MRI as part of their research. The wide assortment of receiver coils available allows for considerable imaging flexibility.

Scanners can be used to image:

  • All human anatomic regions.
  • Animals, including mice, rats, rabbits, dogs, pigs and sheep. Animals can be readily transported by subway or to the building loading dock and to the center's animal prep room.
  • Inanimate objects, such as samples or phantoms.
