The Center for Advanced Imaging Research (CAIR) is based in the Opus Imaging Research Building at Mayo Clinic's Minnesota campus. Construction of the Opus Building was supported by a generous donation from The Opus Group, benefactors Gerald and Henrietta Rauenhorst, and a capital grant from the National Institutes of Health.

The building's first floor (Opus 1) contains extensive equipment and support space:

  • Two whole-body wide-bore 3.0T MRI scanners (GE Premier, Philips Elition)
  • Patient changing area
  • Animal scan preparation rooms
  • 80-person classroom

Laboratory and support space on Opus 2 includes:

  • Office space for CAIR faculty, support staff, students and fellows
  • Electronics lab, machine shop, wet lab, flex labs and a dedicated server room
  • Conference rooms
