Rochester, Minn.
The study will enroll low risk MDS patients who need red blood cell transfusions and who are refractory to or are not using erythropoiesis-stimulating agents. The purpose of the study is to determine whether oral rigosertib treatment results in hematological improvements according to the 2006 International Working Group criteria in these patients. The study will also record any side effects that may occur during the study.

This study defines cancer caregivers as unpaid individuals who provide physical, practical, and/or emotional care and support to the cancer patient in the home setting. They may participate in this study if care recipients and the caregiver are both adults (18 years or older), with the patient having been diagnosed with cancer.The 8 intervention sessions will target the five domains of Quality Of Life (emotional, physical, social, cognitive, and spiritual well-being), be provided in group settings, and be delivered in two 45-minute sessions each week over a 4-week period.

This is a dose escalation followed by dose expansion study of TL32711 in combination with 5-Azacitidine in subjects with Myelodysplastic syndrome who are naïve, have relapsed or have failed prior 5-azacitidine therapy. Pre-clinical and mechanistic studies support that 5-Azacitidine may modulate pathways that enable birinapant-mediated anti-tumor activity.

The purpose of this study is to determine the safe dose of EPZ-5676, to evaluate the safety of EPZ-5676 in patients with advanced hematologic malignancies, and to conduct a preliminary assessment of the anti-leukemia activity of EPZ-5676 in patients with acute leukemias bearing rearrangements of the MLL gene.
Currently this study is in the MLL-r restricted/expansion phase and is only enrolling patients with rearrangements involving the MLL gene, including 11q23 or partial tandem duplications (PTD).

This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of veliparib when given together with floxuridine in treating patients with metastatic epithelial ovarian, primary peritoneal cavity, or fallopian tube cancer. Veliparib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as floxuridine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving veliparib together with floxuridine may kill more tumor cells.

RATIONALE: Estrogen can cause the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy using letrozole may fight breast cancer by blocking the use of estrogen by the tumor cells or by lowering the amount of estrogen the body makes.
PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well letrozole works in treating women with ductal carcinoma in situ.

This phase I trial studies the side effects and the best dose of viral therapy in treating patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck that has returned (come back) after a period of improvement or has spread to other parts of the body or breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. A virus called encoding thyroidal sodium iodide symporter, which has been changed in a certain way, may be able to kill tumor cells without damaging normal cells.

This phase II trial studies how well second mitochondrial-derived activator of caspases (SMAC) mimetic LCL161 alone or with cyclophosphamide works in treating patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. Biological therapies, such as SMAC mimetic LCL161, may stimulate the immune system in different ways and stop cancer cells from growing. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cyclophosphamide, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. It is not yet known whether giving SMAC mimetic LCL161 alone or with cyclophosphamide is more effective in treating multiple myeloma.

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether pembrolizumab (MK-3475 ) can be used safely during neoadjuvant treatment and can improve the body's immune response against pancreatic cancer. Pembrolizumab has been approved for treatment of patients with melanoma but has not been proven to be safe or helpful in patients with pancreatic cancer and is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for this purpose.
