The Biomedical Ethics Research Program offers educational and training opportunities for undergraduate students and new graduates.
- Mayo Clinic Summer Undergraduate Program in Biomedical Ethics Research. The Biomedical Ethics Research Program hosts four to six students each year on the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester, Minnesota, for a mentored experience in empirical bioethics research. Each student is placed with a faculty mentor to work on a particular research project for about 10 weeks. In addition, students participate in educational sessions on bioethics research methods and lunch meetings with faculty. This program is supported in part by a generous gift from benefactors Jim Vann and Lee Stanton Vann.
- Post-baccalaureate research assistantships. The Biomedical Ethics Research Program occasionally sponsors post-baccalaureate experiences on the Rochester, Minnesota, campus for talented students interested in medical school or graduate school. Students can apply for a minimum of 10 weeks and up to one year of mentored experience, with opportunities to attend classes at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Positions are dependent on funding and fit with current research.
