Townsend.Cynthia@mayo.edu Clinical Profile

SUMMARY

My research interests include cognitive-behavioral treatment of chronic pain and associated mood disorders. Specifically, my clinical and research interests include treatment outcomes for patients with chronic non-cancer pain who complete a multidisciplinary cognitive-behavioral rehabilitation program (such as the Mayo Comprehensive Pain Rehabilitation Center program), increasing scientific knowledge of less known but equally distressed pain populations (such as abdominal pain), and understanding prevalence and treatment of co-morbid mood disorders in pain populations (anxiety disorders).
