The research of Anthony A. Stans, M.D., pertains to pediatric orthopedics including spine and limb deformities, trauma, hip disorders, patient safety, and quality of care.

Focus areas

  • Safety. Dr. Stans collaborates with colleagues to reduce radiation exposure for patients receiving orthopedic care.
  • Quality. The most common source of medical error is miscommunication. Dr. Stans collaborates with multiple specialties within the Department of Surgery to improve communication between teams when transferring patients from the operating room to the intensive care unit.
  • Spine deformity. Dr. Stans and his colleagues participate in multicenter study groups to improve outcomes and safety for patients undergoing spine deformity surgery.
