SUMMARY

Manisha Salinas, Dr. P.H., is a public health researcher and implementation scientist whose work advances research on cancer survivorship, digital health and patient outcomes. Trained in public health and behavioral science, Dr. Salinas develops patient-centered tools that support recovery and long-term follow-up. She studies cancer in women and improving quality of life after treatment. She aims to advance digital approaches informed by implementation science to improve survivorship care and shape patient-centered delivery models across oncology and other healthcare settings.

Dr. Salinas leads the development of digital health platforms created with cancer survivors and community partners to expand support after treatment. This work reflects her broader goal of creating scalable, technology-driven solutions that increase access to evidence-based survivorship resources.

As the lead evaluation scientist for community outreach and engagement in the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, Dr. Salinas directs evaluation strategy for cancer practices across Mayo Clinic. She develops outcome frameworks and metrics that guide program priorities, assess impact and translate research into practice.

Dr. Salinas has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and contributes to the national research community through invited talks, competitive training programs and research leadership.

Focus areas

  • Digital health innovation. Dr. Salinas designs and evaluates digital platforms with input from patients and community partners. Her current projects focus on survivorship, but the methods and tools are adaptable to a wide range of health contexts where digital support can improve access, engagement and outcomes.
  • Implementation science. Dr. Salinas applies implementation frameworks to adapt and scale evidence-based programs. Her work identifies strategies that bridge the gap between research and practice, helping health systems and communities adopt interventions that improve care delivery.
  • Evaluation and outcomes research. Dr. Salinas leads evaluation strategy for community outreach and engagement in the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. She develops frameworks and metrics that measure impact, guide priorities and support the translation of research into practice.
  • Women's health and survivorship. Much of Dr. Salinas' research addresses survivorship in breast cancer, focusing on recovery, long-term support and improving quality of life. This work highlights her interest in developing patient-centered strategies that advance women's health.

Significance to patient care

Dr. Salinas develops digital tools to make healthcare more accessible after cancer treatment. She works with patients and communities to design online platforms that give clear information, reminders and support. These tools help survivors stay involved in their care and connect to resources between clinic visits. By building systems that can fit different settings, her work improves recovery, quality of life and long-term support for patients after treatment.
