SUMMARY

My research interests focus on use of integrative therapies such as massage, acupuncture and mind body therapies.

I also have a general interest in research for a worksite wellness initiative and the health and well-being of nursing staff.

Specific research focus areas include:

Identifying the effect of massage therapy for hospitalized surgical patients.
Identifying the effect of music in the hospital environment.
Identifiying the effect of acupuncture for symptom management with hospitalized patients.
Assessing stress and health behaviors of nursing staff.
Determining the knowledge, attitudes and use of complementary and integrative therapies with nursing staff.

Work in these area has been sponsored by Mayo Clinic research grants and departmental funding.
