SUMMARY

Kelly M. Bailey, M.D., Ph.D., is a physician-scientist who specializes in the biology and treatment of bone sarcomas. Specifically, the Bailey laboratory investigates the intersection of DNA damage and immunobiology in Ewing sarcoma, a cancer that affects adolescents and young adults. The goal is to develop new combination therapies for aggressive Ewing sarcoma.

Focus areas

  • The immunobiology of STAG2-deficient Ewing sarcoma.
  • Immunotherapy opportunities in combination with radiation therapy in Ewing sarcoma.
  • Tumor-targeted immunotherapies in Ewing sarcoma.

Significance to patient care

Dr. Bailey studies which cells in Ewing sarcoma tumors stay alive after chemotherapy and radiation therapy. She and her team also explore how these cells respond to other treatments, such as those that help the immune system find and fight cancer cells.
