About Discovery's Edge
Discovery’s Edge is Mayo Clinic's online magazine about research developments. Our goal is to tell the stories of scientists and physician-researchers who are bringing treatments and improved care to patients every day through interdisciplinary studies in all areas of research. Discovery's Edge also reports on "works in progress" — ongoing efforts on the edge of discovery.
From bedside to biology and back again
We see the needs of the patient every day in our hospitals and exam rooms at Mayo Clinic. We take that need to the laboratory for answers and then translate our discoveries into therapies that are applied in clinical practice. Mayo Clinic takes research from the laboratory to the patient faster and better than anyone else. That's part of our story.
The other part of our story is the researchers themselves, many of them experts in their fields, all of them talented professionals who want to find cures and improve lives.
