Wendy Deibert, R.N.
Executive Director, Telemedicine Services, Mercy
Wendy Deibert, R.N., is executive director of telemedicine services with Mercy's Center for Innovative Care in St. Louis. In her 28 years of nursing, she has served as a bedside clinician, manager, senior consultant and operations director.
On late Sunday, May 22, 2011, Deibert was one of the first responders to St. John's hospital, a Mercy system hospital that had just been hit by a catastrophic EF5 multiple-vortex tornado. She was one of the first responders to set up an emergency hospital without walls in the St. John's parking lot.
Currently, she manages daily operations and supervises the nursing staff and support personnel for Mercy SafeWatch. Since 2006, she has converted more than 400 critical care and step-down beds to this electronic intensive care unit (e-ICU) technology in 30 units at 15 hospitals across four states. Deibert joined Mercy in 2004 as a senior consultant with Mercy Technology Services in support of the Bridge medication system implementation and Cerner PowerChart nursing documentation.
Previously, Deibert worked with Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis in the areas of neurological ICU and neurosurgery acute care from 1984 to 2004. She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and her nursing diploma from the Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College.
