My work uses shear wave elastography (SWE) — an ultrasound-based technique that can noninvasively characterize tissue mechanical properties — to evaluate skeletal muscle stiffness.

I remember when I first came to Mayo Graduate School for my interview — one of the researchers that I met pointed out that her office door didn't have a lock. She went on to describe how collegial work at Mayo Clinic is. Everyone is very collaborative. You're not locking away and hiding your results from your colleagues. You're sharing them.

It all really makes sense — we should all be working together for the advancement of science and patient care. I've seen this in action over the course of my thesis work, which is a collaboration between several labs across a number of disciplines.
