Ritu Banerjee, M.D., Ph.D.

Ritu Banerjee, M.D., Ph.D., of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., is excited to do translational research that is clinically relevant and directly applicable to improving the care and health of patients.

Dr. Banerjee says she is looking forward to learning multidisciplinary research methods from experienced mentors. Her goal is to address a complex public health problem: the rapid increase in the prevalence of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens.

"I hope to better define the clinical and molecular epidemiology of antimicrobial-resistant E. coli in order to develop interventions that reduce further spread and emergence of these strains," says Dr. Banerjee.

Dr. Banerjee says Mayo Clinic has a very supportive environment in which to conduct multidisciplinary and translational research.

"I learn every day from the diverse patients I see and from my colleagues, who are experts in clinical and research disciplines," says Dr. Banerjee.
