Dr. Ingram completed medical school at Leiden University in Holland, a residency at the University of Nebraska, a geriatric fellowship through the Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency Geriatric Fellowship Training Program and a palliative medicine fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, and hospice training at St. Christopher's Hospice in London.
Academically, Dr. Ingram is an assistant professor of both family medicine and palliative medicine in the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Minnesota Family Medicine Residency in Mankato.
He has published and presented locally, nationally and internationally on topics specific to geriatrics, dementia and palliative medicine. His research throughout his training has culminated in his current focus of improving the care of seriously ill patients and their families.
