Amit Sood, M.D., is director of research and practice in the Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He also chairs the Mind-Body Medicine Initiative at Mayo Clinic and is an associate professor of medicine in the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Sood has developed an innovative approach toward stress management and resiliency by incorporating concepts from neuroscience, psychology, philosophy and spirituality. Several National Institutes of Health and foundation grants support his research into developing integrative and mind-body approaches in conventional medical care and promoting well-being.
He has authored or co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed original articles, as well as editorials, book chapters and two books. In 2009, ODE Magazine named him as one of 20 "Intelligent Optimists" who are helping the world become a better place.
Dr. Sood completed his internal medicine training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, an integrative medicine fellowship at the University of Arizona and a master's degree in clinical research at Mayo Clinic.
