Program Description
Mayo School of Health Sciences (MSHS) offers a one-year Audiology
Externship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla. This program provides
in-depth clinical knowledge and skills that enable practitioners
to provide quality comprehensive audiology care.
Education will focus on patient care, providing state-of-the-art
clinical audiology services to a primarily adult population. In-depth
of clinical experiences are provided to develop a well-rounded,
competent audiologist, including:
- Audiologic evaluations
- Posturography, videonystagmography
- Rotational chair testing
- Canalith repositioning procedures
- Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials
- Auditory brain stem testing
- Otoacoustic emissions
- Hearing aid dispensing
- Adult aural rehabilitation programs
- Cochlear implants

Facilities
The education site for this residency is Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville,
Fla., which opened in 1986 as a premier academic medical center
in the southeastern United States, where medical research and education
are fully integrated with delivering the highest-quality patient
care.
Graduation and Certification
Upon successful completion of the Audiology Externship, you will
receive a Certificate of Completion from Mayo School of Health Sciences,
College of Medicine.
Hours
For the majority of the externship, your learning schedule will
include eight-hour days, five days per week.
Class Size
Each year, Mayo School of Health Sciences admits one student to
its Audiology Externship Program at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
This ensures that you will receive a comprehensive educational experience
with close one-on-one instruction.
