Program Description
The three-year Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program, fully accredited Pulmonary Medicine Fellowship. The goal of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship is to foster the development of trainees into knowledgeable, skilled and compassionate pulmonary and Critical Care medicine clinicians and academicians who are life-long learners. To achieve these goals, you will be given the opportunity to care for a patient population with an extensive array of pulmonary pathology in a supportive, stimulating and challenging academic environment.

Program highlights include:

  • Diverse inpatient and outpatient populations presenting with both commonly and uncommonly encountered diseases
  • Clinical experience with lung transplantation and LVRS
  • Extensive procedural experience including FOB, interventional bronchoscopy, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, percutaneous tracheostomy
  • Dedicated time, mentoring and support for meaningful clinical research
  • Opportunities to present at local, regional and international meetings
  • Elective rotations to meet each individual’s training needs
  • Clinical and technical experience with pulmonary function studies, polysomnography and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
  • Staff to fellow ratio of 10:6 allowing individualized instruction and feedback
  • State of the art patient care and training facilities

Accreditation
The Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Certification
This fellowship results in eligibility for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification examination in pulmonary medicine.

Program History
The Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship began in 1999, and since that time, more than twenty physicians have completed training. It is anticipated that two fellows will complete training in this program annually.
