The Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Mayo Clinic is one of the largest psychiatric and psychological treatment groups in the United States with more than 60 psychiatrists and psychologists representing every aspect of psychosocial care. The department cares for both adults and children, and provides inpatient and outpatient services.

Most patients are treated on an outpatient basis, but the department conducts several inpatient programs within its 107-bed Mayo Clinic Psychiatry and Psychology Treatment Center.

Faculty
The Medical Psychology Fellowship Program faculty includes:

  • One ABPP Diplomates in Clinical Psychology
  • Five ABPP Diplomates in Clinical Child Psychology
  • Three ABPP Diplomates in Clinical Health Psychology
  • Seven ABPP Diplomates in Clinical Neuropsychology
  • One ABPP Diplomate in Family Psychology
  • Two ABPP Diplomates in Rehabilitation Psychology

During the Medical Psychology Fellowship Program, the fellowship training committee in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology will enrich your fellowship experience with both structure and guidance.

Your specialty training will be supervised by psychologists, but clinical, research and scholarly projects also involve multidisciplinary treatment teams comprised of physicians, nurses, chaplains, bio-statisticians and allied health professionals.

Advisors & Mentors
Your Substantive Specialty Practice Program Coordinator will serve as your advisor. Your Specialty Coordinator can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support, and also will serve as a contact point introducing you and your family to Rochester and the Mayo Clinic system. The Specialty Coordinator assures that training goals are achieved, coordinates rotations, coordinates involvement of supervisors, and serves as a representative of the Specialty Program on the training committee. In addition, mentors are provided for research activities.

Visiting Professors
Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during noon grand rounds and participate in hospital rounds. You will be encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities.
