Program Description
The three-year Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program
at Mayo Clinic in Rochester is designed to prepare physicians for
an academic career in pediatric infectious diseases.
(Note: Our Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program only recruits once every three years. We will be interviewing this season for 2009. Future hiring dates: 2012, 2015.)
This training program provides an excellent opportunity for broad-based
comprehensive clinical and research experiences. During this fellowship,
you will see pediatric patients with a variety of common and unusual
viral, bacterial, fungal and protozoal/parasitic infections.
The investigative and clinical skills acquired during our training
program distinguish our fellows as highly competitive for research
funding and outstanding in clinical competence.
Certification
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program fulfills the
requirements (three years) for subspecialty training in pediatric
infectious diseases prescribed by the Sub Board of Pediatric Infectious
Diseases of the American Board of Pediatrics.

Program History
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester was established in 2004. It received accreditation from the ACGME upon its initial submission. Our current fellow began training in July 2006, and we currently are seeking a candidate to begin in July 2009. Our program is closely allied with the Internal Medicine Infectious Diseases Fellowship which began at Mayo Clinic in Rochester in 1961.
