Program Description
The Adult Lower Extremity Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship is designed to provide you with exposure to a large volume and variety of reconstructive surgical problems involving the hip and knee. The program includes 12 months of clinical work on four to six consultant’s services; each rotation is six weeks to three months in duration.
While on these clinical services, you will work one on one with a member of our adult lower extremity reconstructive group, perform preoperative consultations and participate actively in surgical procedures, and will be directly involved in postoperative patient management. In addition, you will be active in specialty-specific educational conferences and the development of clinical research projects. The program is designed to provide flexibility in achieving your career goals.
Accreditation
The training program fulfills the requirements for training as stated by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Graduate Medical Education.
Certification
Nationally, there is currently no certificate of added qualification (CAQ) or subspecialty certification offered for lower extremity adult reconstruction.
Program History
The Adult Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship began in 1972, and since that time, more than 70 physicians have completed training. It is anticipated that two to three fellows will complete training in the lower extremity program annually.
