- >3600 peer reviewed manuscripts and >5,000 reviews and book chapter citations for Mayo Internal Medicine faculty over the past 3 years.
- Scholarly activity (average per 3rd year resident): 6-7 projects; 4-5 abstracts or presentations; 2-3 peer-reviewed manuscripts published; 2-3 more peer-reviewed manuscripts accepted, submitted or in preparation.
- Residents average >3 Mayo-sponsored trips for scientific presentation and 1 trip for attendance per resident during 2nd and 3rd years.
- Mayo ranks #1 in number of winners nationally in the American College of Physicians Resident Research Competition since inception.

- Outdoor activities including, but not limited to, biking, hiking, skiing (downhill and cross country), fishing, tennis, hunting and climbing (both indoors and outdoors), sailing, canoeing.
- Professional and amateur sports: Rochester Honkers baseball, Rochester Mustangs hockey, Minnesota Wild hockey, Minnesota Twins baseball, Minnesota Vikings football. In addition there are many opportunities to watch city league, high school and college sporting events.
- Tours: Forestville/Mystery cave, Spring Valley caverns (Cave Farm Karst Preserve), Assisi Heights, Mayowood (Olmsted County Historical Society), Heritage House and Plummer House. In addition, Amish tours are available just south of Rochester.
