Program Description
The three-year Family Medicine Residency Program at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale offers comprehensive training for family physicians who wish to assume responsibility for the total health care of individuals and families.

This program provides a solid base of clinical skills and exposure to a variety of patient populations and health-care settings. It emphasizes the principles of family medicine and the importance of accessible, affordable and cost-effective health care. The program has developed an advanced system of competency-based education and offers a safe learning environment where ongoing formative evaluation is the norm.

Accreditation
This program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Certification
After completing the Family Medicine Residency Program at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, you will be eligible to take the certification examination offered by the American Board of Family Practice.

Program History
The Family Medicine physicians at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale developed the Family Medicine Residency Program in 1994. The program accepted its first residents in 1996. Since that time, 40 residents have completed the program. It is anticipated that six trainees will complete this residency each year.
