Medical Scientist Training Program

Medical Scientist Training Program
MSTP Program

Find more information on the Medical Scientist Training Program on the Mayo Graduate School Web site:

As a student in the Mayo Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) you'll learn how to take unanswered clinical questions back to the lab, and apply new basic research findings in novel ways to improve clinical treatments. This requires that you develop the breadth of knowledge and diagnostic skills of top physicians as well as the probing analytical skills of the best basic scientists.

The Medical Scientist Training Program captures the full benefit of both the outstanding clinical training of Mayo Medical School and the exceptional research resources of Mayo Graduate School. Through the program's excellent coordination and integration, you'll acquire complementary clinical and research skills in just seven to eight years rather than the nine or more years required for separate programs. M.D.-Ph.D. students receive an annual stipend and a full-tuition scholarship throughout their training.

Six students are admitted to the MSTP Program annually.
