The M.D.-O.M.S. Program (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) is a joint offering of Mayo Medical School and Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, which administers Mayo residencies and fellowships. Two students are admitted annually to this six-year integrated curriculum leading to the M.D.- O.M.S. degrees. All entering students have previously earned their D.M.D. (Doctor of Dental Medicine) or D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree.

At graduation, you'll receive a medical degree from Mayo Medical School and you'll be eligible for certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Thereafter, you'll be ready to begin a career in private practice, academic medicine or research.

The M.D.-O.M.S. Program meets the requirements of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation. The oral and maxillofacial consulting physicians at Mayo Clinic have appointments in the Department of Surgery.
